This workshop is also useful for those who wish to deepen their knowledge and preparedness to assist individuals in the transgender community. \nWe welcome helpers and healers from all professions. If you work with people\, you are welcome here. \nDuring our time together\, we will explore:\n\nGender\, Sexuality\, and Terminology \nDeep dive into Social\, Medical\, and Legal Transitions\nMental Health and Trauma\nTrauma-Informed Care: How Gender Fits In\nRetraumatization in Professional Settings: The 4 R’s of Trauma-Informed Care\nStandards of Care for Professionals\n\n \nYou will learn from a trans educator and be welcomed into a group of individuals eager to learn and all likely worried about making mistakes. Don’t worry\, we will dive into what it’s like to make a mistake\, how to correct it\, and grow from it.  This workshop will spark meaningful conversations and create an inclusive environment that prioritizes growth\, empathy\, and understanding.  \nWhile this workshop is designed for folks new to Gender Affirming Care\, we will explore deeper topics that often aren’t included on LGBTQIA+ trainings. These topics include medical changes\, transition expectations\, surgical interventions\, co-occurring issues\, changes to WPATH standards\, and institutional harm. \nThis workshop will include both lecture and experiential components. You’ll have opportunities to take part in small group activities and practical exercises designed to reduce mistakes and create better client outcomes. DESCRIPTION:Presented by Dr. Scott Giacomucci\, DSW\, LCSW\, BCD\, CGP\, FAAETS\, TEP \nDates: Monday-Friday\, November 9\, 2026 – November 13\, 2026 (8:30AM-5:30PM) – 35 CE Hours \nCost: $1150 Professionals | $800 students (this fee guarantees a directing opportunity) – NOTE that prior attendance at a multi-day training with Dr. Scott is required to purchase a directing ticket \n$850 (Reduced cost option for those interested in attending without directing practice) \nPhoenix Center – 524 N. Providence Road Media\, PA 19063 \n35 CE Hours for NBCC\, and PA social workers\, counselors\, MFTs\, & Psychologists | 35 training hours provided towards experiential and psychodrama certifications. \nAbout the Workshop\nThis psychodrama directing practice is designed for psychodrama students\, practitioners\, and trainers-in-training to enhance their directing through a trauma-informed lens. Participants will have the opportunity to facilitate a group psychodrama and receive feedback from their peers and the trainer. Feedback will be provided based on the psychodrama certification competencies outlined by the ABE\, as well as trauma-informed psychodrama considerations. Each participant will also have the opportunity to be the protagonist and play auxiliary roles to learn psychodrama from the inside-out. \nPsychodrama facilitation competencies emphasized will include a demonstrated understanding of group phases\, the warming-up process\, spontaneity-creativity theory\, role theory\, protagonist selection\, contracting\, scene setting\, concretization\, doubling\, the mirror position\, role reversal\, soliloquy\, directing auxiliaries and the audience\, facilitating catharsis safely\,  facilitating closure/integration\, containment\, strength-based roles\, trauma-informed principles in psychodrama\, attending to issues of diversity\, equity\, and inclusion in psychodrama\, subroles of the director\, and facilitating the sharing phase of a psychodrama session. \nPrevious Experience\nWhile this is a training workshop\, and training will be held as the priority\, there will be a multitude of secondary opportunities for personal growth. The workshop tickets with directing practice are designed for intermediate and advanced psychodrama students and would not be the best workshop for someone who has no prior psychodrama training. Participants are expected to have past experiential/psychodrama experience as a prerequisite for purchasing a ticket with directing practice\, as well as a foundational understanding of psychodrama’s methodology. \nTickets without directing practice are open to anyone\, regardless of past psychodrama experience. This workshop will be attractive for anyone seeking to enhance their psychodrama facilitation skills – and especially for professionals with some psychodrama experience seeking to more fully put their learning into action.
