As someone who works in behavioral health and regularly helps families find the right level of care, I hold treatment providers to a high standard and the Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy consistently exceeds it. Their staff is incredible: clinically skilled, deeply compassionate, and genuinely invested in every person who walks through their doors.

What sets them apart is their experiential approach to trauma work. Whether someone is navigating trauma, grief and loss, or substance use, the team meets them where they are and does the deeper work that creates real, lasting change not just symptom management.

I trust the Phoenix Center with the people I care about most: those in genuine need of healing. When I refer someone here, I know they'll be treated with expertise and dignity. I can't recommend them highly enough.

My experience learning from Dr. Scott Giacomucci has been one of the most enriching parts of my Psychodrama journey. When I first began studying Psychodrama, I felt overwhelmed by the vast amount of literature and wasn't sure where to start. Dr. Scott's books have become invaluable resources for my learning.

His YouTube channel is another outstanding resource, offering clear, engaging, and generous educational content that complements his books beautifully. Beyond his publications, I have had the privilege of learning directly from Dr Scott during his trainings in India, Philadelphia, and through his online workshops. Each experience has been deeply experiential, thought-provoking, and professionally transformative.

One of the highlights of my journey was attending a three-day training at the Phoenix Centre for Experiential Trauma Therapy in May. Learning in the very space where Dr Scott teaches and practices was both inspiring and memorable. His depth of knowledge, humility, warmth, and ability to bridge theory with practical application make him an exceptional teacher and mentor. I highly recommend his books, trainings, and educational resources to anyone interested in Psychodrama, Sociometry, Group Psychotherapy, or trauma-informed practice.

I had an incredibly disappointing and deeply concerning experience at the Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy in February 2026. As a mental health advocate who was a lead group participant in this director's early work back at Mirmont in 2018, I returned to his clinic eight years later as a long-time success story with continuous sobriety. Unfortunately, the clinical care I received this time was completely mismanaged.

I was placed with an intern for only four sessions before my care was abruptly terminated with zero explanation or proper transition plan, raising serious ethical concerns regarding patient abandonment. Upon paying an additional $118.61 out of pocket just to access my own records, I discovered that a significant portion of the files left by the intern consisted of complete fabrications that painted an entirely false, inaccurate picture of my reality. Worse, during my final session, external medical information and a completely false psychiatric history were brought up that I never disclosed to anyone at this practice. Because I never signed a Release of Information (ROI), this points to a severe breach of confidentiality, potential HIPAA violations, and a total failure in accurate record-keeping.

It is profoundly disheartening that my care was fabricated and discarded in February 2026, right as the director was releasing his latest 2026 textbook on treating Complex PTSD. While the practice profits heavily off marketing trauma care and ethical standards, their actual real-world execution completely contradicts basic clinical ethics. Speaking from my own lived experience, I am deeply concerned about how they might treat someone in a more vulnerable situation who doesn’t have the resources to advocate for themselves. Be incredibly cautious before trusting your care or your permanent files to this clinic.

I just completed my first professional training with Dr. Scott Giacomucci, and I am awestruck. This training was so personally and professionally impactful. Scott creates so much safety. Even though he is one of the leading experts in trauma treatment and psychodrama, he leads with kindness, humility, respect and welcome. I cannot wait to be back for my next experience.

I honestly don’t know where to start. I started seeing Lincoln Blackwell a few months after my dad passed. Lincoln spent a few sessions with me getting to know my back ground and building trust. Over the following months the work I did with Lincoln addressed everything from grief to trauma using a variety of approaches and I can say beyond the shadow of a doubt I don’t know where I would be without him. I’ve never felt more listened to or safer to discuss and work through the things that had me tied up for decades. I can honestly say I trust him with my life(which is a huge deal because I didn’t trust anyone when I started). I can not recommend this practice enough. My time here has improved my life in real, measurable ways and given me a new perspective on grief and loss. Seeing the therapists here is the greatest gift you could give yourself and your loved ones.

I recently completed a 5-day Psychodrama Directing Intensive with Center Director Dr. Scott Giacomucci, and the experience exceeded every expectation. Scott is deeply knowledgeable, highly attuned, and clearly committed to serving underserved communities. He brings skill and heart to his work as a trainer, teacher, clinician, and social advocate. I’m already looking forward to training with him again.

I had a great experience with Denise Chain. She is professional and made me feel very comfortable. Denise helped me to process heavy childhood trauma using EMDR. I have had experience with therapy several times over my life, but when my wife passed, I needed help more than ever before. I found that help, and more, in the Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma. They helped me so much in getting through that trauma, but they also have been instrumental in moving forward in my new life as I put all the pieces back together in a new and different way. I don't hesitate to recommend the team at the Phoenix Center for even a moment. They are wonderful!

At the lowest point in my life I reached out to several places but no one accepted my insurance or had waiting lists. I was referred to Phoenix for counseling for my PTSD. I have had 2 wonderful intern counselors thus far who have had their own individual styles of counseling; they both have kindness, compassion, and helpfulness in common.

1st, I'm thankful for a practice thst offers sliding scale pricing.

2nd, Im thankful to have professionals that understand my individuality while teaching me very useful technics to help myself in daily life.

I took the weekly in-person women's group with Danielle, exploring creative expressive arts for post-traumatic growth. As an artist, it took me time to fully understand how sacred this space was for healing and not performing.

My evolution in healing is in great part because of Danielle's facilitation style and the supportive community in the room each week. We were all on this journey together.

I fully understand the potential for creative practices within oneself and in communion with communities. I am grateful to Danielle and the Phoenix Center for working with me in my full humanity, including providing a sliding scale offering.

I can’t say enough about the workshops and training programs offered by Dr Giacomucci and the Phoenix Center. I am 33 years into my career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have attended many trainings over the years to expand my clinical skills repertoire. The level of expertise and care put into each of the workshops I have attended at the Phoenix center has been top-notch—from the highly trained facilitators to the welcoming and comfortable facilities, everything is done with such quality. I also love the location, as Media has great places to grab lunch with a new colleague and window shop. I leave every time feeling confident and empowered to put the new things I’ve learned to work right away with current clients I’ve been feeling stuck with. I highly recommend the continuing education offerings of this very professional, cutting edge clinical training center. I also don’t hesitate to refer clients there for trauma treatment, as these folks really do have a level of expertise that I tend to refer out for.
