Many mental health professionals aim to provide affirming care\, but few of us have the lived experience that can really help us navigate or anticipate potential traumas faced during the transition process. As trauma-informed professionals\, we can reduce the risk of re-traumatization by understanding transition timelines\, barriers to receiving care\, and anticipating common adverse experiences. In this hour-long webinar\, we will introduce these concepts and walk away with a deeper understanding of how to begin supporting transgender clients and implement techniques to foster empathy and create affirming practices. \nLearning Objectives \n\nDescribe common transition challenges\nIdentify challenges and traumas that can occur during the transition process\nUnderstand how past traumatic medical/mental health experiences can shape future client interactions\n\nChris Klem\, he/him is an educator who is passionate about creating safer spaces for individuals to live as their authentic selves.  As a trans man\, Chris has found a way to blend his professional training background with his personal experience to create trainings for folks seeking to increase their LGBTQIA+ competency.  Chris has provided trainings for social workers\, advocates\, therapists\, and crisis counselors on gender and sexuality with a focus on gender affirming care. Having navigated the transition process himself\, he is able to incorporate personal stories\, real-life examples and draws from various research and other professional sources.  Chris will also be offering individual coaching in January 2025 and assists with The UNITY Group: An LGBTQIA+ Healing Space with Sarah Jayne Oltz. \n\nCE Program Policies and Procedures related to Refunds/Cancellations\, Grievances\, and Conflicts of Interest can be found here. \nFor the workshop schedule or other details or questions about the workshop\, please contact us at Support@PhoenixTraumaCenter.com. \n___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ \nContinuing Education (CE) Approval Statements relevant to this workshop: \n\nContinuing Education (CE) Approval Statements relevant to this workshop:\n\nPhoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy\, LLC (Lic. #004115) has been approved as a pre-approved provider of professional continuing education for social workers (Section 47.36)\, Marriage and Family Therapist (Section 48.36) and Professional Counselors (Section 49.36) by the PA State Board of Social Workers\, Marriage & Family Therapists and Professional Counselors.\nPhoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychologists (Lic. # PSY000215) to offer continuing education for psychologists.\nPhoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy\, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider\, ACEP No. 7013.
