This workshop will focus on using sociometry, psychodrama, and sociodrama to explore interpersonal relationships and social dynamics. Action methods will be taught to help participants engage clients and group members in creative and effective ways. Multiple interpersonal psychodramas will be facilitated to demonstrate various psychodrama interventions including doubling, role reversal, mirror position, concretization, and more. Throughout the workshop we will explore themes of relational trauma, corrective relational experiences, group cohesion, social roles, family of origin, role relationships, and the importance of community. The difference between psychodrama and sociodrama will be clarified while demonstrating both approaches. Furthermore, sociopsychodrama interventions will be introduced. This workshop will provide participants with the tools to engage with clients in individual or group contexts in the interpersonal realm, helping them uncover new awareness and ways of being in relationship. Emphasis will be placed on interpersonal roles throughout the workshop.

*Please note that this is workshop will include both didactic and experiential learning components. The experiential learning structures include demonstrations of psychodrama and other experiential processes which often include (optional) personal disclosures from participants. While personal growth is often a byproduct of experiential learning in psychodrama, the primary purpose of this workshop is training. If you are seeking a workshop for personal growth or seeking a professional training event that is entirely didactic (lecture/powerpoint), this is probably not the best workshop for you.
