About the workshop:
Sexually-informed care is a type of care that centers the individual as a sexual being and establishes safety and trust in the therapeutic setting. It also looks at how we can understand that sexuality and social and economic justice are within all that we do with clients in clinical settings. Celebratory care differs from affirming care in that it praises and uplifts the community in ways that society traditionally has not done in the past. We will define both types of care and how they relate to marginalized communities. As a class, we will also apply these concepts clinically.
Learning Objectives:
Please note: This full-day in-person training is the second training in a 4-part workshop series. Attendance at the previous workshops is strongly recommended but not mandatory. The dates and times of the remaining workshops in the series can be found below.

* Please note that this workshop will include both didactic and experiential learning components. The experiential learning structures include demonstrations of psychodrama and other experiential processes which often include (optional) personal disclosures from participants. While personal growth is often a byproduct of experiential learning in psychodrama, the primary purpose of this workshop is training. If you are seeking a workshop for personal growth or seeking a professional training event that is entirely didactic (lecture/powerpoint), this is probably not the best workshop for you.
* Please note that all participants will be required to wear a mask while in the building due to the rising COVID-19 cases in Delaware County and the Philadelphia area. COVID policies are subject to change based on changes in COVID-19 cases leading up to the date of the event.
For folks traveling from out of town, there is a beautiful, new bed and breakfast just one block from the Phoenix Center that we recommend. It is within walking distance of downtown Media and plenty of shops/restaurants – https://www.gifford-risleyhouse.com. Mention Phoenix Center for a reduced rate.
No conflicts of interest or outside commercial support have been declared by the presenter or others involved in the program.
This workshop is designed primarily for psychologists, social workers, counselors, therapists, and graduate students, but other professionals may also find it helpful. The instruction is designed at the intermediate level (although many new and advanced professionals may also find it helpful).
