About This Webinar:
A large percentage of transgender individuals decide to transition, (medically, socially or legally) at some point in their lives. Many mental health professionals aim to provide affirming care, but few of us have the lived experience that can really help us navigate or anticipate potential traumas faced during the transition process. As trauma-informed professionals, we can reduce the risk of re-traumatization by understanding transition timelines, barriers to receiving care, and anticipating common adverse experiences. In this hour-long webinar, we will introduce these concepts and walk away with a deeper understanding of how to begin supporting transgender clients and implement techniques to foster empathy and create affirming practices.
