Education & Training

Chris (he/him) is an educator who is passionate about creating safer spaces for individuals to learn and grow, both professionally and personally. Chris is affirming of LGBTQIA+ individuals and adaptive to those needing support with social anxiety and non-traditional learning methods. Adult learning and continuing education have been embedded in Chris’ professional career and has always been his favorite aspect of any role he has held. As someone who struggles with reading comprehension, but thrives with hands on learning, Chris strives to incorporate various learning techniques in his workshops and prioritizes practice-based learning. Knowing that some of the most valuable opportunities for learning arise from first-hand experience, Chris finds that all of us have valuable information to share and knowledge doesn’t just come from formal education.

Chris has over a decade of experience designing and facilitating training programs for both large and small organizations. Some of Chris’ past training topics include: Trauma-Informed Care, Supporting LGBTQIA+ Clients (specifically Transgender and Non-Binary), Sexual Violence, Mandatory Reporting, Ethics and Values, Capacity & Competency, Aging-Related Care, and Caregiving. Chris is also seeking to expand his experience with Medical Related Trauma, Chronic Pain/Illness, and Neurodiversity.

Chris spent 16 years at The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging, and 14 of those years in the Older Adult Protective Services Department. Chris then managed a Sexual Violence program in New Jersey for a few years before joining The Phoenix Center. Chris has been in non-profit management positions for the last 10 years and can provide effective strategies for building both cohesive and trauma-informed teams.

With supervision and hands-on experience from Dr. Scott Giacomucci, Chris is offering Workplace Wellness Workshops and can provide training on a variety of topics, especially those listed above.
