Hayley Bérot-Millison, M.A. CMHC, NCC, CTP, (she/her/hers) has a vast array of clinical experience in the field of counseling working with both teens and adults who have experienced various forms of trauma including, but not limited to, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, first responders, grief and loss, substance abuse, and attachment trauma.
She worked for 5 years at the Delaware County Victim Assistance Center (formerly WAR) as a counselor/advocate for survivors of sexual assault (SA) and/or domestic violence (DV). During this time, she was able to support thousands of survivors through a variety of services such as crisis intervention, individual counseling, psychoeducation, prevention education, and accompaniment to police interviews, hospitals, and court proceedings. She has gone through extensive training to become a sexual assault counselor and deeply values being able to help survivors at any stage in their healing journey.
In addition to working with survivors, Hayley is passionate about working with first responders who have directly or indirectly experienced traumatic events through the course of their employment. Hayley previously worked as a volunteer firefighter and first responder for several years where she witnessed the many unique challenges faced by police, fire, medical, and military personnel.
Additionally, Hayley has experience working as a milieu counselor at an intensive residential treatment facility for children and youth with various mental health diagnosis. Through her cumulative work experiences, she has had the opportunity to work with diverse clientele with a number of differing diagnosis and presenting symptomology. These most frequently included symptoms of depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress.
In her current work, she takes an eclectic approach to therapy which allows her flexibility when choosing the most effective interventions to address her client’s unique, individual needs. Although each treatment modality is tailored to the client’s individual needs, she most frequently utilizes the following treatment modalities: EMDR, CBT, CPT, Gestalt, motivational interviewing, person-centered, and experiential techniques such as psychodrama.
“I enjoy building genuine and authentic connections with my clients through my compassionate, empathetic, and encouraging nature. I am passionate about working collaboratively with my clients to gain new insight and awareness leading to personal growth and transformation. I am looking forward to being a part of your healing journey, whenever you are ready!”
She earned a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Immaculata University. In addition, she has completed advanced trauma therapy training in EMDR and CTP. She is currently working on her CET certification.
