ASGPP Education Committee presents a 3-hour FREE OF CHARGE Workshop,
Ethical Challenges in Psychodrama Relationships, Practice and Training:
Cultivating a Culture of Integrity and Humility
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2, 2021
6:00 PM – 9:00 PM Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Co-creating safe and beneficial professional relationships and environments requires mindfulness and care to ethical concerns. Whether a psychodramatist is practicing in a clinical, coaching, educational, legal or other profession, understanding of and adherence to ethical standards and codes is essential.
In this experiential education workshop, ASGPP offers an ethics consciousness-raising session. Presenters cover the power differential inherent in fiduciary relationships, and the different ethical standards and codes psychodramatists are required to follow. Panelists also present procedures for filing a complaint with the American Society for Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama (ASGPP), and the Ethics Complaint Policies and Procedures for filing a complaint with the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy.
After the panel discussion, a series of hypothetical scenarios on ethical issues of particular concern in the practice and training of psychodrama are covered. These include: dual/multiple relationships; therapeutic use of touch; informed consent; use of self-disclosure; and psychodrama on Zoom. Participants will engage in experiential problem-solving in small groups.
Learning Objectives:
Explain the significant of the power dynamics in the psychodramatist-client/ student/coachee, etc. relationship.
Describe one ethical principle relevant to psychodrama practice.
Identify one ethical principle relevant in the teaching/training of psychodrama.
